The railway network of China handled 1.004 billion tonnes of cargo in the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, with a growth of 3.8 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth, marking a new record for freight volume in one quarter, as per official data.

The China State Railway Group Co Ltd stated that it will accelerate the building of a new railway logistics network to improve local and international economic circulation while lowering logistics costs.

The railways in China handled 520 million tonnes of coal during this period, a 3.5 per cent increase over the previous year.

China's railway industry has significantly improved its transportation services and efficiency to promote exquisite growth in the economy, Chinese media reports said citing the national railroad corporation.
