  • China's road logistics price index recorded a slight rise of 0.05 per cent in August, reaching 102.5.
  • The increase is attributed to recovering road transport demand and a resurgence in supply capacity.
  • The index is expected to see mild fluctuations but maintain an upward trend owing to the upcoming production peak season and expanding consumption market.
In August 2023, China's road logistics price index saw a minor increase to 102.5, marking a 0.05 per cent uptick compared to July, according to a jointly conducted survey by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and the Guangdong Lin'an Logistics Group.

The country’s road transport demand continued to recover, driven largely by the sustained growth of internal economic incentives. Additionally, the supply capacity showed signs of rejuvenation, as the adverse effects of poor weather began to recede, and anticipation grew for the forthcoming traditional peak production season.

Looking ahead, the survey highlighted the forthcoming production peak season and the widening of the consumption market as potential drivers for a probable increase in the index, albeit with mild fluctuations, in the future, as per Chinese media reports.
