China will offer technical support to help improve standards of jute mills in Bangladesh that produce viscose. A minutes of discussion (MOD) was signed between the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) and China Textile Industrial Corporation for Foreign Economic and Technical Cooperation for balancing, modernising, rehabilitating and expanding the mills.

"China would provide technical support to improve standard of local jute mills and we have signed an MOD to this end,” said Mirza Azam, Bangladeshi state minister for textile and jute at the signing ceremony in Dhaka.

Bangladesh also aims to improve friendly ties between the two countries with the signing of the MOD, according to Bangladeshi media reports. The country is keen to expand trade with China in the textile and jute sector. (KD)
