China’s Sunrise Group recently launched a major textile project in Morocco’s Fez city. The 20-hectare complex in the Ben Souda industrial zone will host units for yarn spinning, weaving, dyeing, printing and readymade garment manufacturing.

Spearheaded by Sunrise subsidiary Euwen Textiles, the facility will use renewable energy and water recycling systems.

It is the second large-scale project of the Chinese group in Morocco. The first was launched in early 2025 in Skhirat near Rabat.

The investment in the project is 1.4 billion dirhams (~$140 million), DBS Morocco posted on microblogging platform X.

The project is expected to turn Fez into a textile hub, generate around 3,000 direct and 1,500 indirect jobs, and triple Morocco's textile production capacity, the X post said.
