Consumer prices in Poland rise 16.1% YoY in March 2023

Consumer prices in March 2023, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 16.1 per cent, with an increase of 17.1 per cent in the prices of goods, as per Statistics Poland. As compared to the previous month, consumer prices increased by 1.1 per cent, of which consumer prices of goods rose by 1.2 per cent.

In March of the current year, compared with the previous month, the highest contribution to the total consumer price index came from higher prices related to food (by 2.3 per cent) and clothing and footwear (by 5 per cent) among others, Statistics Poland said in a media release.

The inflation net of food and energy prices in the country amounted to 12.3 per cent year-on-year (YoY), while the consumer price index (CPI) stood at 16.1 per cent YoY, as per data on core inflation indices for March 2023 released by the National Bank of Poland (NBP).
