Dutch inflation jumps to 3.8% in February

Consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were 3.8 per cent more expensive in February 2025 compared to the same month one year earlier, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS).

The inflation rate stood at 3.3 per cent in January. The February inflation rate was unchanged from the flash estimate published on 3 March. Consumer prices rose by 1.1 per cent in February compared to January.

Among key contributors to inflation, energy added 0.98 percentage points in February. Clothing and footwear had a minimal impact, contributing just 0.01 percentage points, up from -0.06 in January, indicating a slight recovery in prices.

According to the European Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were 3.5 per cent more expensive in February year on year, up from 3.0 per cent in January. Inflation in the euro area as a whole stood at 2.4 per cent in February, down from 2.5 per cent in January.
