Dutch inflation steady at 2.7%, clothing prices plunge in May

Consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were 2.7 per cent more expensive in May than one year previously, maintaining the same inflation rate as in April, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Notably, clothing prices had a significant downward impact on inflation, with a 3.9 per cent decrease compared to the previous year.

The inflation rate for May matches the flash estimate published on May 31, as per CBS.

According to the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were also 2.7 per cent more expensive in May, slightly up from 2.6 per cent in April. In the euro area as a whole, inflation rose to 2.6 per cent in May from 2.4 per cent in April.
