Ahmed Amawi, head of the country’s Customs Authority, said the system will significantly reduce air-cargo customs clearance time and lower import and export costs, while enabling real-time tracking of shipments from the country of export until final clearance at airports.
A unified platform will ensure fast and efficient electronic document exchange for importers and exporters, while mandatory use of e-signature will ensure procedural integrity and reduce human errors in customs clearance.
The ACI system will ensure the quality and safety of goods imported via air route before they arrive in Egypt, a release from the Ministry of Finance said.
It will strengthen the country’s capability to prevent the entry of substandard or non-compliant goods into domestic markets.
Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk said his ministry is closely working with investment partners to streamline trade operations and improve the overall efficiency of Egypt’s logistics ecosystem.
