EMS Group achieves sales of CHF 845 mn in H1 FY20

The EMS Group, a Switzerland-based high-performance polymers and specialty chemicals company, reported sales of CHF 845 million (Swiss franc) in its first half (H1) fiscal 2020 ended on June 30, 2020 compared to sales of CHF 1,154 million in same period last year. Group's net operating income (EBIT) were down to CHF 227 million (H1 FY19: CHF 316 million).

“National Covid-19 measures had an extremely strong impact on the global economy. Shops remained closed for several weeks and demand for industrial goods ground practically to a standstill. The global automotive industry was also strongly affected,” EMS Group stated in a press release. “In the meantime, with a few exceptions, the automotive plants have all restarted production.”

Group’s net income for the first half was CHF 192 million (CHF 266 million). However, net financial loss was CHF 2 million (CHF 1 million). Group generated an operational cash flow (EBITDA) of CHF 254 million (CHF 345 million).
