The Eswatini government wants to establish an integrated support system for the effective delivery of support interventions for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), according to minister of commerce, industry and trade Manqoba Khumalo, who recently urged the textile and apparel design sector to collaborate with the government to improve the economy.

Khumalo said this during the Eswatini Textile Dialogue in Manzini. “We have placed the development of the MSME sector at the centre of the economic development agenda for the country,” he said.

Khumalo said the dialogue is in line with the government's Strategic Roadmap 2019-2022, which identified manufacturing as one of the five key sectors that need to be developed across all entrepreneurship levels in order to attain a robust economy, according to a newspaper report from the country.

There are still growth opportunities for MSMEs even to export markets, which have been largely utilised by large enterprises, he added.
