Industrial producer prices in the euro area in August 2023, compared with July 2023, increased by 2.5 per cent in the energy sector, while prices remained stable for non-durable consumer goods, and prices decreased by 0.1 per cent for durable consumer goods and by 0.4 per cent for intermediate goods. Prices in total industry excluding energy decreased by 0.2 per cent, according to estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.
In the EU, industrial producer prices increased by 2.2 per cent in the energy sector, while prices remained stable for durable consumer goods and for non-durable consumer goods, and prices decreased by 0.4 per cent for intermediate goods. Prices in total industry excluding energy decreased by 0.2 per cent.
The biggest monthly increases in industrial producer prices were observed in Ireland at 3.7 per cent, Finland at 2.4 per cent, and Greece at 2.0 per cent, while the largest decreases were recorded in Romania at -1.3 per cent, Slovenia at -0.7 per cent, and Belgium at -0.6 per cent.

In the EU, industrial producer prices decreased by 28.3 per cent in the energy sector and by 4.5 per cent for intermediate goods, while prices increased by 4.1 per cent for durable consumer goods and by 6.7 per cent for non-durable consumer goods. Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 0.9 per cent. The largest decreases in industrial producer prices were observed in Ireland at -51.2 per cent, Bulgaria at -27.2 per cent, and Belgium at -16.6 per cent. The highest annual increases were recorded in Slovakia at 9.8 per cent, Hungary at 7.8 per cent, and Croatia at 4.0 per cent.
