In the euro area in April 2023, compared with March 2023, production of energy grew by 1.0 per cent, while production of intermediate goods fell by 1.0 per cent, durable consumer goods by 2.6 per cent, and non-durable consumer goods by 3.0 per cent, Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU, said in a press release.
In the EU, production of energy by 0.3 per cent, while that of intermediate goods fell by 1.0 per cent, durable consumer goods and non-durable consumer goods—both by 2.2 per cent.
Among member states for which data are available, the highest monthly increases were registered in Ireland at 21.5 per cent, Lithuania at 2.8 per cent, and Sweden at 1.4 per cent. The largest decreases were observed in Slovenia at -7.9 per cent, Portugal at -5.5 per cent, and the Netherlands at -3.5 per cent.
In the euro area in April 2023, compared with April 2022, production of nondurable consumer goods rose by 0.6 per cent, while production of durable consumer goods fell by 4.6 per cent, intermediate goods by 6.2 per cent, and energy by 7.4 per cent.
In the EU, production of non-durable consumer goods rose by 1.8 per cent, while production of durable consumer goods fell by 6.1 per cent, intermediate goods by 6.6 per cent, and energy by 8.3 per cent.
Among member states for which data are available, the highest annual increases were registered in Ireland at 22.5 per cent, Malta at 14.3 per cent, and Denmark at 12.2 per cent. The largest decreases were observed in Estonia at -15.1 per cent, the Netherlands at -12.8 per cent, and Bulgaria at -12.5 per cent.
