The Textile India Conclave and Exhibition will be held in Gandhinagar from June 30 – July 2, 2017 to provide industry players a platform for displaying their products. Industry leaders, top officials and chief operating officers of various textile companies and firms who source textile products from India are expected to participate in this exhibition.

The conclave is being organised by the Central government and it will be a big platform for industry players, said textiles secretary Rashmi Verma while addressing a regional conference on textiles held in Ahmedabad. She also said that business-to-business meeting will be held during the conclave and it will be attended by the big players, CEOs and industry leaders.

Verma was in the city to discuss the Rs 6,000-crore special package, which was announced in June 2016, with the representatives of the textile and apparel industry, according to a leading daily.

The package was launched 6 months ago after taking suggestions and demands from the industry into consideration, but it has not yet resulted in an increase in investments, exports or employment generation, said Verma.

The government will also meet associations and camps to explain the package. Verma believes that everyone is not aware of the scheme and there is a need to raise the awareness. She said that the ministry has also asked the state government for help. (KD)
