When examining the figures without adjustments for calendar and seasonal effects, the exports to third countries stood at €55.7 billion. This represents a 1.4 per cent increase when compared to the same period in the previous year.
The US maintained its position as Germany's most significant trading partner outside the EU in January 2024. However, exports to the US experienced a slight downturn, falling by 1.8 per cent to €11.9 billion compared with January 2023. On the other hand, trade with China showed a robust growth, with exports increasing by 5.2 per cent to €7.7 billion. A significant surge was observed in exports to the UK, which soared by 12.3 per cent to reach €6.7 billion.
