Germany’s inflation rate is expected to be 7.5 per cent in July this year compared to 7.6 per cent in June. Consumer prices are expected to increase by 0.9 per cent in July over June levels, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). Energy prices were 35.7 per cent higher in July this year than in the same month last year, it said.

The inflation rate is measured as the change in the consumer price index compared with the same month a year earlier.

Energy prices, in particular, have increased considerably since the war started in Ukraine and have had a considerable impact on the high inflation rate, Destatis noted in a release.
