The ifo Business Climate Index in Germany has fallen again, reaching 85.4 points in September, down from 86.6 points in August. This marks the fourth straight month of decline, as sentiment among German companies continues to worsen. Businesses are increasingly dissatisfied with their current situation, and expectations for the future are equally bleak.

The manufacturing sector, in particular, is feeling the strain, with the index falling to its lowest level since June 2020. A worsening shortage of orders is plaguing Germany's industrial core, resulting in significantly poorer assessments of the present business environment and growing pessimism about the months ahead, ifo said in a press release.

Trade businesses also registered a fall in the index, with traders more skeptical about future prospects.
