Germany’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.2 per cent in the first quarter of 2025 (Q1 2025) compared with the fourth quarter of 2024 (Q4 2024), following a 0.2 per cent decline in the previous quarter, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).

Compared with the first quarter of 2024, GDP was down 0.4 per cent in price-adjusted terms and 0.2 per cent after price and calendar adjustments.

Both household final consumption expenditure and capital formation were higher than in the previous quarter.

The quarter-on-quarter figures are adjusted for price, seasonal and calendar variations, while year-on-year data are presented with and without calendar adjustment.
