Germany’s producer prices of industrial products (domestic sales) in December 2024 increased by 0.8 per cent year-over-year (YoY), according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). The prices saw a decrease of 0.1 per cent on the previous month, and -1.8 per cent on an annual average basis in 2024 compared to 2023. In November 2024, the year-over-year (YoY) change rate was positive 0.1 per cent.

The producer prices in December 2024 dropped by 0.1 per cent from November 2024. On an annual average, industrial producer prices in 2024 were 1.8 per cent lower compared to 2023. In contrast, the year-on-year change rate in 2023 was a modest increase of 0.2 per cent, Destatis said in a press release.

Capital goods prices in December 2024 were 1.8 per cent higher than a year earlier (unchanged compared with November 2024). Machinery cost 2.0 per cent more than in December 2023.

Excluding energy prices, producer prices in December 2024 were up 1.2 per cent from the same month of the previous year and remained unchanged compared to November 2024. Basic chemicals (total) cost 0.7 per cent less than in the same month of the previous year.
