Germany’s wholesale selling prices in September 2023 were 4.1 per cent lower compared to the same month in 2022, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). This marks the most significant year-on-year (YoY) decrease in prices since May 2020, which recorded a drop of 4.3 per cent from May 2019.The decline is primarily due to a base effect arising from large price increases in 2022, which were caused by the war in Ukraine. On a month-to-month comparison, wholesale prices showed a slight uptick of 0.2 per cent in September 2023, as per Destatis.
Germany's wholesale prices in September 2023 fell 4.1 per cent year-on-year, marking the largest decrease since May 2020.
