Headline inflation in Bangladesh eases to 9.49% in Nov

The consumer price index (CPI) in Bangladesh slowed to 9.49 per cent in November this year from October's 9.93 per cent, according to Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics data. Non-food inflation fell to 8.16 per cent from 8.3 per cent in October.

The key index was 9.62 per cent in rural areas in the month compared to nearly 10 per cent in October.

Inflation in the urban areas fell from 9.72 per cent to 9.16 per cent, domestic media outlets reported.

The headline inflation hit an 11-year high of 9.94 per cent in May. It was 8.85 per cent in November 2022.

The clothing and footwear sectors, however, witnessed rises in price inflation, indicating demand stays strong.
