India's merchandise exports worth $417.8 bn in FY22

Merchandise exports from India reached $417.8 billion in fiscal 2021-22. This figure excludes figures from non-EDI (electronic data interchange) ports, and adding that, it is likely to exceed $418 billion. Such exports in March this year were worth $40.38 billion, a rise of 14.53 per cent over $35.26 billion in March 2021 and an increase of 87.89 per cent over $21.49 billion in March 2020.

Exports in non-petroleum goods witnessed a significant growth during the fiscal—$352.76 billion—an increase of 32.62 per cent over $266.00 billion in the previous fiscal and a rise of 29.66 per cent over $272.07 billion in fiscal 2019-20.

Exports of major commodity that recorded year-on-year (YoY) growth during the last fiscal included petroleum products (152.1 per cent); cotton yarn, fabrics, made-ups, handloom products, etc. (55.1 per cent); man-made yarn, fabrics, made-ups, etc.( 46.9 per cent); engineering goods (45.5 per cent); jute products (36.2 per cent); leather and leather products (32.2 per cent); readymade garments of all textiles (29.9 per cent); and handicrafts excluding hand-made carpet (22 per cent).

Exports to the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Belgium and Germany grew YoY by 46.4 per cent, 66.9 per cent, 64.5 per cent, 90.5 per cent, 26.8 per cent, 7.8 per cent, 28 per cent, 90.4 per cent and 21.1 per cent respectively during the last fiscal, according to an official release.
