US ambassador to India Eric Garcetti recently told members of the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata that the state of West Bengal has the potential to turn the country's logistics capital.
“The state is not only strategically located in India but also well-positioned as the gateway between in south east Asia, south Asia and east Asia,” he said.

“The state is not only strategically located in India but also well-positioned as the gateway between in south east Asia, south Asia and east Asia,” he said during a recent interactive session with members of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Kolkata.

The ambassador met the principal chief advisor to the state chief minister Amit Mitra and conveyed keenness to invest in infrastructure in the state.

“We had a meaningful discussion on the importance of women’s empowerment, economic opportunities for diverse communities, climate action, and ways to enhance the #USIndia strategic partnership in the state,” the envoy tweeted.

“There are strong ties between West Bengal and the American companies,” he added at the session.
