The month over month change in WPI for the month of June 2025 stood at -0.19 per cent as compared to May 2025.
“Negative rate of inflation in June 2025 is primarily due to decrease in prices of food articles, mineral oils, manufacture of basic metals, crude petroleum and natural gas etc,” the Office of the Economic Adviser, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said.
The official WPI for all commodities (Base: 2011-12 = 100) for June decreased slightly to 153.8 from 154.1 in the previous month.
The index for manufactured products (weight 64.23 per cent) reduced slightly to 144.8 in June from 144.9 in May 2025. The index for ‘Manufacture of Textiles’ sub-group remained unchanged at 136.6, while the index for ‘Manufacture of Wearing Apparel’ rose to 155.6 in June from 155 in May.
The index for primary articles (weight 22.62 per cent) increased by 0.81 per cent to 185.8 in June from 184.3 for the month of May, while that for fuel and power (weight 13.15 per cent) declined by 2.52 per cent to 143 in June from 146.7 in May.
