The directorate general of foreign trade (DGFT), under the ministry of commerce and industry, Government of India, has today issued a notification allowing export of nonwoven fabrics other than 25-70 grams per square metre (GSM), i.e. except melt-blown category of nonwoven fabric. However, exports of nonwoven fabrics of 25-70 GSM are still prohibited.

The DGFT has amended its Notification No. 52 of March 19, 2020, related to export of textile raw material for masks and coveralls.

As per the revised notification, nonwoven fabrics falling under ITCHS Codes 560311, 569313, 560314, 560391, 560393, and 560394 are now freely allowed for exports.

Nonwoven fabrics with ITCHS Codes 560312 and 560392 continue to be prohibited for outbound shipments, according to the notification.
