Indian govt hikes MSP on cotton by ₹354 to ₹6,080 per quintal

The Indian government has increased Minimum Support Price (MSP) for unginned cotton by ₹354 to ₹6,080 per quintal for the coming season. The increase in the MSP for all mandated Kharif crops for Marketing Season 2022-23 was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an official press release said.

The MSP for medium staple cotton (unginned) is fixed at ₹6,080 for coming season, up from ₹5,726 per quintal last year. Long staple cotton’s MSP has been increased by ₹355 to ₹6,380 per quintal from the previous ₹6,025 per quintal.
