Indonesia will use a night market concept for its exhibition at the Dubai Expo 2020 in October 2020, allowing visitors to not only see products and commodities but also experience its culture. Its pavilion will not only display popular handicrafts, textiles and other industrial products, but also stage cultural performances, a top government official said.

Arlinda Imbang Jaya, export development director general at the trade ministry, said the Indonesian pavilion will also feature Indonesian cuisine and films.

The concept, she feel, would attract more visitors, according to an Indonesian newspaper report. The ministry is expecting 2.5 million people to visit its pavilion during the expo.

The ministry will cooperate with PT Wijaya Karya, a state-owned construction company, to build the exhibition space, which will occupy a 1,680-square meter area. PT Samudra Dyan Praga, a subsidiary of publicly listed event organiser PT Dyandra Media International, has been hired by the government to design the exhibition space. (DS)
