Insights

  • North India's cotton yarn market declined due to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, impacting global markets.
  • In Ludhiana and Delhi, cotton yarn prices dropped by ₹*-* per kg since Thursday.
  • Buyers are cautious, delaying purchases amid geopolitical uncertainties, affecting garment and textile exports.
  • ICE cotton price drop has also contributed to the decline.

There are concerns about potential further weakening in garment and textile exports due to the new tensions. The falling ICE cotton prices have also negatively impacted the cotton yarn market. However, in Panipat, there was a mixed trend in recycled yarn and raw materials due to geopolitical developments and increased demand during the summer from Uttar Pradesh. Cotton comber prices have decreased due to a drop in natural fibre prices.

In the Ludhiana market, most counts and varieties of cotton yarn saw a decline of &#****;*-* per kg. Stockists and traders are reducing their stock by lowering prices. However, mills have not reduced their product prices. A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre2Fashion, "Cotton yarn prices have dropped as concerns about a slowdown in export demand following the new conflict between Iran and Israel persist. The continuous fall in ICE cotton prices is also a dampening factor for the cotton yarn market."
