Italy's annual inflation rate rises to 8.4% in Aug 2022

The rate of change of Italy’s consumer price index (CPI) in August was 0.8 per cent on a monthly basis and 8.4 per cent on an annual basis, according to flash estimates. Core inflation (excluding energy and unprocessed food) was 4.4 per cent in the month—up from 4.1 per cent in July—and inflation excluding energy was 5 per cent—up from 4.7 per cent in July.

The increase in CPI on monthly basis was due to many factors, including the prices of non-regulated energy products (3 per cent) and of services related to transport (2.4 per cent, an official release said.

The annual rate of change of prices of goods was 11.8 per cent in August (from 11.1 per cent in the July).

In August thi9s year, the Italian harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) increased by 0.9 per cent on monthly basis and by 9.1 per cent on annual basis (from 8.4 per cent in the previous month).
