Italy's seasonally-adjusted exports up 3.5% MoM, 0.8% YoY in Feb 2025

Italy’s seasonally-adjusted exports and imports increased by 3.5 per cent and 1.7 per cent month on month (MoM) respectively in February this year, according to Istat, the official statistical agency.

Exports rose by 3.7 per cent MoM for European Union (EU) countries and by 3.2 per cent MoM for non-EU countries in the month. Imports grew by 2.4 per cent MoM for EU countries and by 0.8 per cent MoM for non-EU countries during the period.

Over the last quarter, seasonally-adjusted data exports and imports increased quarter on quarter (QoQ) by 4 per cent and 3 per cent respectively, an Istat release said.

The country’s seasonally-adjusted exports and imports increased by 0.8 per cent and 4.1 per cent year on year (YoY) respectively in February. Outgoing flows rose for EU countries by 3 per cent YoY, while these decreased for non-EU countries by 1.6 per cent YoY. Incoming flows increased by 1 per cent YoY for the EU area and by 8.7 per cent YoY for the extra-EU area.

In February 2025, trade balance registered a surplus of €4,466 million—a €361-million deficit for EU countries and a €4,827-million surplus for non-EU countries. Excluding energy, trade balance surplus amounted to €9,466 million.

Italy’s import prices increased by 0.6 per cent MoM in February—a 0.2-per cent rise for the euro zone and a 1-per cent increase for the non-euro zone. Over the last quarter, import prices increased by 0.8 per cent QoQ—a 0.5-per cent QoQ drop for the euro zone and a 2.1-per cent QoQ rise for the non-euro zone.

Import prices in February increased by 2.2 per cent YoY; they stayed unchanged for the euro zone and rose by 4.2 per cent YoY for the non-euro zone.
