Kufner Group, a Germany based interlining and technical textile solution provider, has acquired Ploucquet and its production site of Zittau from Sympatex Technologies, a Germany based developer of functional textiles and finished products and the owner of Ploucquet, to expand in sustainable functional materials.

Ploucquet, a developer of innovative and ecological textiles, and the production site in Zittau is now a part of Kufner Group with effect from April 20, 2016, according to a press statement by Sympatex. In addition, lamination and finishing of technical textiles will also be done by them for Sympatex.

This sale is expected to improve the long term production relation of all the three companies involved. Kufner will be employing 124 people in the long run to strengthen the competitiveness of Ploucquet.

Commenting on the acquisition, Ulrich Sogl, managing director of Kufner said, “We share the same values, we have the same goals and serve identical markets. With our international distribution structure, we will strengthen the Ploucquet brand and use the capacity of the production site in Zittau even more.”

Additionally, Michael Kamm, managing director of Sympatex said, “It has been our target to find a perfect partner for Ploucquet in order to secure the efficient production site of Zittau in Central Europe, which is important to us. Kufner meets all of our demands in an almost ideal way.”

“With the additional resources that we gain from selling Ploucquet GmbH, we can increase the chances of reaching our turnover and profit targets,” he added. (MCJ)
