Finnish home textiles retailer Marimekko has installed a new washing machine at its printing factory in Helsinki, which enables using more diverse washing programs than before, decreases use of detergents and improves energy efficiency of the process. Marimekko's printing factory is the only industrial scale textile printing factory in Finland.

“We at Marimekko are proud of our factory which helps us preserve our print heritage and textile printing production in Finland. It is also an international competitive advantage that gives us flexibility and strengthens our ability to innovate,” Marimekko CEO Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko said.

“Investing in a new washing machine enables us to develop the operations of our printing factory even further, which annually prints around one million metres of fabric” Kasko added. (AR)
