Methanex, the world's largest producer and supplier of methanol to major international markets, has reduced its regional November contract price for North America region, according to the new price posted on the company website.

For the North American region, Methanex has announced its non-discounted reference price for November 1-30 at $ 1.05/Gal or $349/mt (converted to $/mt using a conversion rate of 332.6 Gal per mt) compared to October's price of $1.10/Gal or $366/mt.

For the Asia-Pacific region, Methanex kept its Asian posted contract price for November 1-30 at $305/mt, same as the price for last month's contracts.

For the European region, the posted contract price for October 1 – December 31, 2015 was earlier announced at €295/mt.

Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, is a clear liquid chemical that is water soluble and readily biodegradable. It is used to produce other chemical derivatives, which in turn are used to produce everyday products, including polyester, foams and resins. (RKS)
