The textile plant belonging to Nam Dinh Textile and Garment Corporation (Natexco) will be soon relocated to Hoa Xa Industrial Park in Nghia Hung district in Nam Dinh province, Vietnamese media reported.

The present site of Natexco will make way for 24.8 hectare urban area project that will include trade hubs, apartments, schools, parks, sports centres and green spaces.

Natexco's textile plant was once the biggest of its kind when the country was still a French colony.

Employment numbers at the plant increased from 6,000 in 1924 to nearly 13,000 in 1985.

The plant used old textile machinery and equipment and its relocation to rural area was necessary for environment protection. (RKS)
