Sudan has launched Sudan-China Express, a new direct maritime shipping route connecting the two countries. The maiden voyage on the route of a 32,000-ton maximum capacity cargo ship was kicked off recently from the Sudan port and it is expected to reach the seaport of Qingdao in China on July 1.

The launch ceremony for the same was held in Sudan on Sunday, which was attended by Hisham Ali Ahmed Abuzaid, Sudanese minister of transport and Ma Xinmin, Chinese Ambassador to Sudan.

Sudan, located in northeast Africa and on the west coast of Red Sea, boasts unique geographical advantages and has served as a passage for goods from China to Africa since the ancient times. The two countries have great prospects of cooperation in shipping, said Chinese media reports quoting Xinmin.
