Clothing & footwear index rise 1.5% in Nov

Consumer Price Index in November 2005 fell slightly, by 0.1 percent over October 2005 data released by Singapore Statistics.

Dearer ready-made garment and footwear raised the clothing and footwear index by 1.5 percent.

As a result of higher gas tariff, as well as dearer liquefied petroleum gas and house hold durables, housing cost edged up by 0.2 percent.

Cost of transport & communication fell by 1.2 percent due to lower car prices and cheaper petrol.

The indices for education & stationery and health care remained stable in November 2005.

The Consumer Price Index in November 2005 rose by 1.0 percent compared with the same month a year ago.
