National Textile Corporation (NTC) can start setting up Indian Textile Plaza as the Gujarat State Government has given approval.

This new plaza would be created in the premises of the defunct Jehangir Textile Mills in Ahmedabad, at the cost of Rs 90 crore, informed K R Pillai, Chairman and Managing Director of NTC.

Shankersinh Vaghela, Minister of Textiles, planted a tree and laid foundation stone of Indian Textile Plaza in the campus of the mill, yesterday.

Gujarat was famous for its handicraft products mainly related to textiles, Vaghela said.

He stressed on the need to support rural artisans of State by providing them access to the market and to develop a platform for direct dealings with the buyers and consumers.

He also added that the Plaza would also help craftspersons and manufacturers in displaying their skill and marketing thier products.
