AP Govt seeks compensation for failed Bt cotton crop

Mahyco-Monsanto Biotech company's Bt cotton of Mech 162 Bt, Mech 184 Bt and Mech 12 Bt has failed in the 2004 Kharif (summer) season.
As per the MoU signed, the company has failed to make good the farmer's losses.
Andhra Pradesh government has already filed a case against the company in the High court for non compliance of the terms of agreement.
State agriculture minister, N Raghuveera Reddy, said that process to cancel license to sell seed will be undertaken shortly if farmers are not compensated by end of present cotton marketing season.
