“Particularly in some areas of the Macintyre, many growers have had to re-evaluate their water budgets, and in some cases, unless there is some significant in-crop rain or stream flow events, many crops will be one or two irrigations short,” he noted.
"Bullamon Plains" at Thallon has some of the most advanced cotton in the Border Rivers region, with the earliest of its 1100ha crop being planted in mid September.
“Generally, it's been a pretty good growing season, although the last few weeks have been way too hot. But we've kept up with the irrigation pretty well. We were back to a 6-day irrigation cycle during that very hot period," he said.
