The individual sectors of the Textile Solutions business developed in very different ways: record volumes, for example in the case of winding machines, contrasted with extremely low volumes in the case of texturing machines.
The financial year 2005 was also marked by the acquisition and integration of seven textile technology businesses, mainly in the nonwovens, textile components and recycling sectors. In the coming years, these businesses will substantially contribute to growth in the Textile Solutions division.
Furthermore, at the end of 2005, Saurer signed a contract to acquire all tangible and intangible assets of the textile machinery components producer Temco (expected sales for 2006: EUR 10m), resident in Hammelburg/Germany. Closing is expected to take place by the beginning of February.
Temco produces texturing aggregates, online monitoring systems, texturing jets, and technologically leading special gearings and has high synergies with the Heberlein Fiber Technology which was recently acquired by Saurer.
The orders and sales of the Transmission Systems division were further increased compared with the previous year, totaling EUR 399m (previous year EUR 384m, +4 percent).
Accelerating demand starting in the second half of 2004 led to a substantial improvement in sales in the first half of 2005, whereas in the second half of 2005, the previous year's good volume was narrowly maintained.
For 2006, Saurer expectsa slight increase in Textile Solutions sales as a result of the complete integration of the companies newly acquired in 2005. In Transmission Systems, we expect a slight drop in volume in the agricultural sector, which will be compensated by the launch of new products.
Swiss based company Saurer Textile is the world market leader for full service solutions in textile machinery and continuousely sets new benchmarks for efficient textile production.
