Formosa restarts naphtha cracker after brief delay

After a delay of three days, Taiwan-based Formosa Petrochemical Corp has restarted the No-1 naphtha cracker on August 8, which was shutdown for maintenance on June 19.

The naphtha cracker was originally planned to be restarted on August 5, but following mechanical problems, the plant could not resume production as scheduled.

The cracker located in Mailiao has a capacity of 700,000 tons per annum was restarted yesterday (Aug 8), a Formosa official told fibre2fashion.

Formosa operates two other naphtha crackers with a capacity of 1.03 million tons and 1.2 million tons, respectively.
