Weak market demand has led to South Korea-based KP Chemical shutting down one of its PTA lines this week.

“Line no-2 of the Ulsan based PTA plant has been shut down on August 5 for a turnaround, owing to weak markets”, a KP Chemical official informed fibre2fashion.

“It is likely to resume production in around 20 days”, he added by saying.

When quizzed on current production capacity on PTA line no-3, he revealed that it was operating at 95 percent production rates.

Line no-2 has a production capacity of 40,000 tons per year and line no-3 has capacity of 600,000 tons per annum.
