Mitsui reduces benzene plant run rates. Plans turnaround

Two benzene plants managed by Mitsui Chemicals – Japan are currently operating at lower capacity rates and are also likely to undergo a turnaround in the last quarter of the current year.

Currently, benzene plants in Osaka and Chiba are operating at 80-90 percent capacity, a Mitsui company official informed fibre2fashion.

He also added that a turnaround at the Osaka benzene plant is likely in mid-October and the Chiba plant may go off-stream in October or November 2012.

The Osaka plant has a benzene production capacity of 100,000 tons per annum and the plant in Chiba has capacity to produce 112,000 tons per annum.

According to the official, the Osaka plant undergoes maintenance turnaround once every two years, whereas, the Chiba plant undergoes turnaround once every four years.
