Water shortage affects Solvay's Rosignano soda ash plant

Solvay Chemicals informed that the extreme drought of the last twelve months in Tuscany and Italy is impacting the economic activity in the Region.

Solvay’s Rosignano plant is also affected by the shortage in local water supply.  Rosignano’s 1 million metric tonnes unit is one of Solvay's main soda ash production sites in Europe.

Consequently the production of soda ash had to be reduced as of mid August.  Depending on future rain fall levels, the plant might continue to reduce production for several weeks.

Thanks to its wide industrial network of soda plants, Solvay is able to take measures aiming at minimizing the impact on its customers.

Solvay Chemicals is part of the Solvay group, an international industrial company offering a broad range of products and solutions that contribute to improving the quality of life.
