Idemitsu Kosan – a Japan-based petrochemical major will undertake maintenance turnaround at its aromatics plant located in Tokuyama in this month.

The aromatics plant will undergo a maintenance turnaround from September 16 to November 15, 2012, an Idemitsu company official told fibre2fashion.

The aromatic plant has Paraxylene (PX) production capacity of 200,000 tons / year, Benzene capacity of 274,000 tons / year, Xylene capacity of 317,000 tons / year and Toluene capacity of 130,000 tons / year.

He further added that they undertake maintenance turnarounds every two years, so the next schedule is likely to be in 2014.

When asked for their opinion on current PX price trends, he said, “As the prices of crude oil are gradually increasing, PX prices too are rising in tandem”.

Yesterday, fibre2fashion had reported that, a Idemitsu Kosan naphtha cracker with a capacity of 623,000 tons / year at the same location was shutdown for maintenance on September 4 and is scheduled to restart in end-October.
