Japan-based Asahi Kasei has reduced operating rates at its Acrylonitrile (ACN) plant.

A company official informed fibre2fashion that, the ACN plant based in Mizushima is currently operating at 70% production capacity rates.

“Market conditions are weak”, the spokesman said, when asked for the reason for lowering the operating rate.

He also ruled out the possibility of hiking production rates until ACN prices touch over US$ 2000/ton.

The ACN plant has a production capacity of 200,000 tons / year.
