Reliance Industries Limited's (RIL) Jamnagar Refinery has been awarded 'First Prize' in recognition of the 'efforts made in promoting oil and gas conservation during 2004-2005' for 'carrying out exemplary work in energy conservation'.
The award was given by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) in the 'Large Projects Category' under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India.
Indian Oil Company Limited's Panipat Refinery was the other company to be awarded in this category.

RIL emerged as the 'Best Managed Company' in India in a study by Business Today and A.T. Kearney in 2003.
In 2004, the company emerged as 'India's biggest wealth creator' in the private sector over a 5-year period in a study by Business Today' Stern Stewart and as India's 'Most Admired Company' in a Business Barons' TNS Mode Opinion Poll.
RIL's activities span exploration and production (E&P) of oil and gas, refining and marketing, petrochemicals (polyester, polymers, and intermediates), textiles, financial services and insurance, power, telecom and infocom initiatives.
