European Parliament to support watered-down services bill

Euobserver made point on attempts by centre-right MEPs from central and eastern Europe to revolt against a cross-party compromise deal on the services directive, the European Parliament looks likely to give support to the watered-down version of the bill.

MEPs will vote on the controversial "Bolkestein directive," so called after its Dutch ex-commissioner author on Thursday (16 February), following almost two years of hot debate about the scope and provisions of the law, which aims to liberalise the services sector in Europe.
