Government would offer assistance for the promotion of Khadi industry and to deal with problems of the artisans, said Labour Minister G Vinod, inaugurating the Khadi Gramodyog Pradarshan 2006 at the Institution of Engineers in Khairatabad.

The 15-day long exhibition is organized under the aegis of the Andhra Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board.

Since Khadi is the bread and butter of the rural people, Vinod said hundreds of families are depended on it, and therefore government would take every possible action to improve financial condition of these families.

The objective of this exhibition is to create awareness about khadi and village industries and its products in urban people, said the Minister.

More than 50 stalls sponsored by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission are set up.

Artisans from Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Karnataka are also participating in it.

The products displayed include cotton khadi, silk khadi, khadi ready-mades, food products, wood carvings, brass ware, herbals and palm products.

All these products are natural and eco-friendly, informed G Narendra Nath, CEO, Andhra Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board.
