Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI) announced that productivity, profitability, parasites, pastures and new wool products will be some of the topics discussed at AWU forum in Goulburn on Thursday 9 March.
All Merino producers and wool industry stakeholders are invited to attend the free forum, which will highlight opportunities to improve on-farm profitability and AWI's push to build demand for Australian Merino wool.
AWI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Len Stephens urged all producers in the region to attend the forum.
"There is every reason to be optimistic about the future for Merino producers – the market fundamentals look positive for wool, there are many opportunities to improve on-farm profitability and the industry has the right strategy to build demand through partnerships with leading apparel companies," he said.
"Now is the time to think about the future success and sustainability of the Australian Merino industry and I urge all producers to attend this forum to find out how they can make a difference to their business."
Keynote speakers at the forum include:
- AWI CEO Dr Stephens, on AWI's drive to deliver benefits to woolgrowers;
- NSW farm business consultant David Sackett on the opportunities to improve profitability in Merino sheep systems, and;
- Italian fashion apparel industry chief Fabrizio Servente, Managing Director of the Benetton subsidiary Sisley, who will discuss opportunities for Australian Merino wool in Europe.
