LANXESS - progress on sale of Fibers & Paper BU announced

Leather chemicals producer LANXESS has made progress with the portfolio adjustments it announced at the end of last year.

The Group has now successfully concluded the sale of its Dorlastan fibers business, with production sites in Dormagen (Germany) and Bushy Park (South Carolina, USA), to the Japanese company Asahi Kasei Fibers Corporation (AKF).

Now that the responsible antitrust authorities have issued their approval, the transaction takes legal and economic effect from March 1, 2006.

The sale of LANXESS's Paper business unit to the Finnish chemicals group Kemira Oyj originally announced in December 2005 has now almost reached closing. The responsible antitrust authorities have agreed to the transaction. Kemira will take over the paper chemicals business on April 1, 2006.
